Description

Our Love is a dynamic rock ballad song, suitable for an upper intermediate to early advanced level. Dave Brown’s lyrics were inspired by an article he read about Shirley MacLaine’s experience balancing love with fame. It is in standard song form – AABA. After a brief piano solo, there is an exciting key change up a semitone for the final chorus – finishing with a typical rock song extended coda – improvised on the recording and a close transcription notated in the Piano Vocal Score sheet music, and the Lead Sheet music – vocal only.

Our Love was written in 1982 (but unpublished), and a demo recording was made in January 1983. The 24-track reel-to-reel tape then remained in a cupboard until this year (2025). Sound wiz Peter Dowdall then did some ingenious editing, production and completion of the YouTube arrangement in August 2025.
